 Hello everyone,

My name is Juan. I am originally from Colombia and have been living in Australia for the past 11 years. 

I came to Sydney to learn English and I ended up finding what I was looking for my whole life, my purpose and passion that had become the last 10 years of my life and that passion is coffee.
During this time I felt the need to travel,  so I decided to build a coffee trailer and hit the road with my coffee machine. My plan was simple, head north and share my love for coffee with the trailer I named MULATTO. 
But the pandemic forced me to change my plans, there were no roads to hit and I had no plan B. 
I opened a little coffee business (Mulatto) in Sydney To my surprise it became a place where people would have their coffees and exchange interesting stories with other very interesting friendly strangers. Community became a byproduct of service.

After few months the desire to travel grew and with it the creation of Mulatta, a van that with the help of some friends took me 7 months to built, and finally allowing me to fulfill my pre-COVID dreams of sharing the love for coffee while I traveling around Australia.

MULATTA, is a Mercedes’ Sprinter 2013 model, the van used to be an ambulance from the army. 
Since I wanted to support my travels with some kind of income, I decided to put a completely functional commercial coffee machine in it!! 
It took me around 2 months of research and figuring out the best way to operate the machine within the van. And 7 months to finalised all the details to finally be able to travel around Australia.

So since  (December 2021) I’ve been travelling around Australia. Working in private events with my van. 
And few weeks ago I’ve been helping people in Lismore, Woodburn, coorakai and the Northern Rivers area in NSW after the devastating floods.

I decided to started a Gofundme campaign that collected around $1000 which I invested on boots, gloves and first aid kits to help those struggling. I also volunteered to served free coffee from my van to those who needed it.
